MOTO (Mail Order / Telephone Order) Pay allows businesses to accept payments by manually entering customer card details into a secure Virtual Terminal. Instead of the customer entering their payment online, they provide card information over the phone, by mail, or via another remote communication channel. The merchant then processes the payment on their behalf. This makes MOTO ideal for call centers, reservations, and service-based businesses that take bookings or payments remotely.

Yes MOTO Pay is fully PCI-DSS compliant. Payments are processed through a secure virtual terminal with end-to-end encryption. While the merchant temporarily receives the customer’s card details (unlike Pay by Link), the system ensures that data is not stored or exposed after the transaction. Businesses are required to follow PCI guidelines, such as not writing card details down or storing them outside the secure system. This ensures both the customer and merchant are protected.

Although both are remote payment methods, the main difference lies in who enters the card details: MOTO Pay: The merchant inputs the customer’s details into a secure Virtual Terminal. Pay by Link: The customer receives a link and enters their own details on a secure page. MOTO is ideal when speaking directly with customers (e.g., on the phone), while Pay by Link is better when customers prefer to enter details themselves. Many businesses actually use both services together to cover all remote payment scenarios.
